Volunteers are an important part of the House of Hope community, helping us create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who comes through our doors.
There are lots of ways to get involved. You might be looking for a regular role in the House, prefer to help at fundraising events from time to time, or have professional skills or experience you’d like to offer.
We want volunteering to be a positive experience for you and for our community, so we take time to find the right fit based on your interests, skills, experience and availability.
Welcoming at the House
Help us give everyone a warm welcome. This could include greeting community members, making a cuppa, taking time to chat and listen, and helping people feel comfortable during their time with us.
As you'll be spending time directly with people impacted by breast cancer, we're looking for people who are warm, good listeners and understand the importance of respecting individual experiences and boundaries.
Helping Around the House
There are always practical things that help keep the House running. This could include preparing rooms, organising supplies, keeping our spaces tidy and welcoming, helping in the garden and lending a hand with other practical tasks.
Fundraising Event Support
Help us represent House of Hope at fundraising and community events.
You could be cheering on Team Hope at a running event, helping with a collection, supporting one of our fundraising activities or attending a community event on our behalf. Many of these opportunities take place during evenings and weekends, so this can be a great way to get involved if regular weekday volunteering isn't possible.
Administration
If you're organised and comfortable with office-based tasks, you could support our team with administration and other behind-the-scenes jobs that help keep the House running.
Have a professional skill to share?
We're also interested in hearing from people who would like to donate their professional skills or deliver sessions for our community.
This might include hairdressing, beauty or holistic therapies, counselling, yoga and movement, creative activities or other areas of expertise.
These opportunities are considered separately from our general volunteer roles and may require relevant qualifications, professional registration, insurance or experience.
Have something else in mind?
If you have a skill, idea or experience that you think could benefit House of Hope, we'd love to hear from you too.
Interested in joining us?
Complete our short volunteer interest form and tell us a little about yourself. We'll review your details and, if we think there's a suitable opportunity, a member of the team will get in touch for an informal chat.
