When someone is diagnosed with breast cancer, their whole world changes—but so does the world of the people who love them.

At the House of Hope, we recognise that family members and close friends often carry the emotional weight of a diagnosis too. You are the listeners, the caregivers, the hand-holders. But in supporting someone else, your own needs can easily be overlooked.

That’s why our support doesn’t stop with the person who has been diagnosed. We are creating a space where partners, children, parents and friends can also find comfort, understanding and strength.

Support for partners

Whether you’ve been together for decades or just a short time, a breast cancer diagnosis can place enormous emotional strain on a relationship. Partners often try to stay strong while quietly managing their own fears and worries. At the House of Hope, we’ll offer counselling, support, and sessions designed to help you process what’s happening together and individually.

Support for children

Children can sense when something’s wrong, even if they don’t fully understand it. Whether they’re small or grown-up, they may feel frightened, confused or left out of important conversations.

We’ll provide age-appropriate resources, group workshops, play space and gentle guidance for helping children understand and express their feelings during a parent’s illness.

Support for parents

No matter how old your child is, hearing that they have cancer is devastating. Many parents feel helpless, anxious, or unsure how best to offer support.

At The House of Hope, we’ll offer one-to-one and group support for parents of adults facing breast cancer, so you can care for your child while also taking care of yourself.

Support for friends

Friends are often a vital source of strength, but it can be hard to know the right thing to say or do. You may feel overwhelmed, unsure how to help, or scared of saying the wrong thing.

We’ll offer welcoming, informal sessions for friends, where you can connect with others in similar situations, learn how to offer meaningful support, and look after your own wellbeing too.

A community of care

We believe in supporting the whole network around a breast cancer diagnosis—because you matter too. At The House of Hope, families and friends will always be welcome and have a place to turn, talk, and be supported.
